Revised Exam Schedule for RRB CEN 01/2025 Assistant Loco Pilot
The Railway Recruitment Board has revised the tentative exam schedule for CEN 01/2025 (Assistant Loco Pilot). The Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted on 13, 16, 17, and 18 February 2026. 🎓 Post Qualifications - CEN 01/2025: Recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)
Educational Qualification: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI/Diploma/Apprenticeship in specified trades (Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic).
Alternative: Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering is acceptable in lieu of Diploma.
Technical Requirement: Candidates must possess prescribed qualifications from a recognized institute as on the closing date for application submission.
📄 Important Exam Guidelines
- Candidates must carry the same original Photo IDENTITY DOCUMENT as mentioned in the application to attend the exam.
- Candidates who verified Aadhaar during application must ensure their Aadhaar account remains unlocked in the UIDAI system before the exam day.
- Candidates are advised to refer only to the official websites of RRBs for latest updates. Do not be misled by unauthenticated sources.
- Beware of touts who try to misguide candidates with fake promises of appointment for jobs on illegal consideration. RRB selections are based on Computer Based Test (CBT) and recruitment is based only on the merit of the candidates.

📄 Selection Process
- Stages: CBT-1, CBT-2, CBAT, PET/Medical Examination, Document Verification (DV).
- CBT-1: Screening exam. Duration: 60 mins. Questions: 75. Max marks: 75. Negative marking: 1/3rd. Pass %: UR & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%. Syllabus: Mathematics, Mental Ability, General Science (10th std), General Awareness.
- CBT-2: Shortlisting limited to 15 times vacancies. Final panels prepared on CBT-2 & CBAT marks. Total Duration: 2 hrs 30 mins. Total Questions: 175. Part-A: 90 mins, 100 Qs. Part-B: 60 mins, 75 Qs. Negative marking: 1/3rd. Part-A Pass %: UR & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC - 30%, ST - 25%. Part-B is qualifying (35% for all). Only Part-A marks counted for shortlisting. Part-A Syllabus: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering. Part-B Syllabus: Trade syllabi as per DGT.
- CBAT: 8 times vacancies shortlisted. Vision Certificate required. English & Hindi. No negative marking. Qualifying: T-score of 42 marks in each test battery. Merit: 70% weightage for CBT-2 Part-A, 30% for CBAT.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates equal to vacancies based on merit. Tie-breaker: older candidate gets higher merit. Appointment subject to Medical Fitness Test and document verification.
📄 Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality/Citizenship: Citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan; Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962 with intention to permanently settle; or Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries with intention to permanently settle.
- Reservation: Vertical reservation for EWS, SC, ST, and OBC-NCL. Only communities recognized by GoI are eligible. Candidates debarred by any RRB/RRC or dismissed from government/PSU service are not eligible.
- Ex-Servicemen: Includes persons served in regular Army, Navy, or Air Force meeting specific retirement/discharge/pension criteria. Serving personnel can apply one year before retirement.
- NOC: Candidates serving in Central/State Govt, Railways, PSUs, etc., must produce an NOC from the employer on the date of DV.

- Required Documents: SC/ST Caste Certificate, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate, Self-Declaration by OBC (NCL) Candidate, EWS Income & Asset Certificate, EBC Income Certificate, Minority Community Declaration (for fee waiver), Medical Certificate from Eye Specialist (for ALP), Self-Declaration regarding LASIK/Corrective Eye Surgery (for ALP), Ex-Servicemen Certificate from Commanding Officer, Self-Declaration regarding Civil Employment (for Ex-Servicemen).
- Vision Standards: Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test (must not accept +2D). Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 without glasses. Colour Vision: Normal. Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision: Normal. Candidate must not have undergone LASIK Surgery or any surgery to correct refractive error.
